A 3MP Peephole Camera for Clearer Details

The 3MP specification refers to the exterior peephole camera, not the indoor screen. It captures detailed images of visitors, packages, and activity near the entrance.

These details can be viewed in real time or reviewed later in an event recording. This is useful when checking who stopped at the door, when a delivery arrived, or what caused an unfamiliar sound in the hallway.

A 4.3-Inch Indoor Display

The 4.3-inch indoor display provides a more accessible alternative to looking through a narrow traditional peephole.

Pressing the button on the indoor unit brings up the camera view. Users can check the entrance without placing their face close to the door, making everyday viewing more comfortable for different members of the household.

The screen also keeps the basic interaction simple. A phone is not required when someone only wants to take a quick look outside.

Mobile Viewing Through the Tuya App

When the peephole camera detects movement near the entrance, it sends a “Motion Detected” notification to the user’s phone.

Tapping the alert opens the Tuya App, where the user can select “Peephole Camera” and check the doorway. With the device connected to the network, the camera view can be accessed from another room or while the user is away from home.

If the alert is not opened immediately, the corresponding recording remains available in the app’s event history.

Motion Detection and Event Recording

In event-recording mode, the camera does not need to record an empty hallway continuously. Motion near the door triggers a recording, preserving the relevant activity for later review.

The recording duration can be set to 15, 30, or 60 seconds in the app. A shorter clip uses less storage and power, while a longer clip provides more context around the event.

This makes it possible to look back and answer practical questions:

  • When did the package arrive?
  • Who stopped outside the door?
  • How long did someone remain near the entrance?
  • What happened while no one was home?

Local and Cloud Storage Options

A TF card slot is located beneath the indoor display and supports cards with capacities of up to 128GB. This provides a local option for saving event recordings.

Cloud storage is also available by subscription for users who prefer online access to selected footage. The two options allow households to choose the storage method that suits their needs.

A Built-In 5000mAh Rechargeable Battery

Because the device is installed on a door, permanent power wiring would add unnecessary installation work and visible cables. Rehent uses a built-in 5000mAh rechargeable battery instead.

A low-power chipset, motion-detection system, and power-management design help reduce energy use between events. When activity is detected, the device records the event and then returns to energy-saving operation.

Under reference conditions of approximately 10 event recordings per day, a single charge can provide around 1–2 months of use.

Longer recordings, frequent motion events, network activity, environmental conditions, and other device settings can all affect actual battery life.

A Practical Update to the Traditional Peephole

The 4.3-inch display is available for quick checks at home. The Tuya App provides mobile access when the user is in another room or away. Motion-triggered recording keeps a record of relevant events, while the rechargeable battery avoids the need for permanent power wiring.

Rehent’s approach is not about adding more steps to the front door. It is about making a familiar household task—seeing who is outside—clearer and easier to manage.
